Project Baseline visits underwater cultural heritage sites for the purpose of aiding scientific study and preservation. We leave wrecks and submerged ruins untouched and receive permission to dive on designated sites. We comply with the UNESCO Code of Ethics for Underwater Cultural Heritage sites and dive by the mantra "take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but bubbles."

Documenting submerged historical sites contributes to understanding the state of our submerged cultural resources and the ecosystems that develop on and around them.

Collaborating with archeologists to document these sites adds to our understanding of history and helps organizations justify the need for protections.
